So many Social Media…so little time….

I have to admit that electronic social media excite me!
And not just the personal side of it….(find old/lost friends, follow their lives, stalk {ahem} strangers etc) but also the side that affects the way we work, we sell and consume.

One problem I had from day one (e.g. when I joined Facebook) was how my work (for a mobile telephony operator) and my corporate profile on such media would/could be affected by my personal profile.
Should I update my Status with things like “Hate my work” or “xxxx is a fuc*ing moron”, should I post pictures of me getting drunk (not so often thank God) in parties and should I post pictures of my short trip to London on that long weekend when originally the leave of absence was due to health reasons ?

Anyway, I guess there is a way to overcome this, and it’s nothing short of creating a second (fake?) profile for personal use only…where you blur you face from any pictures, seriously misspell your name and finally turn down all friend requests coming from first degree relatives !!!

What bugs me the most with my electronic social life though, is not having to be stingy and closehanded on my emotional and sentimental statements, but rather time.
And more specifically the lack of it.
I am really having trouble keeping up with Status updates and tweets from people I know or would like to follow. It seems that the burdon of electronic social media is starting to have an effect on my everyday life. And to some it may be an addiction and may be very difficult to go “cold turkey” (pic courtesy of Joe Newton) but for me it seems very difficult to even adjust to a “fair use” policy.

Got to go tweet now...!
